NASA Goddard Space Flight Center has a requirement for a Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) System. The required QCL System includes a QCL operating in the 960 to 966 cm-1 wavenumber region and emitting >20 mW of power over the region. The laser line width must be <5 MHz and the relative tuning rate 6.3 x 10-5/K. The QCL is mounted in a thermo-electric cooler head and is interfaced with temperature and current control electronics. The thermo-electric head must be small and of particular size and mechanical design to fit into the GSFC HIPWAC, which is of fixed design. The current size and mounting pattern and components of the operating head in HIPWAC are those of Alpes Laser LLH100 - Lab Housing, with a 2.5 to 13 micron AR window; 5A TE cooler, down to -30 C; PT100 thermosensor; demountable; optional water cooling; laser voltage monitor. Associated electronics are also required.

This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.g ov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.

It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any).
