USACE, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Contracting Office intends to issue a sole source award to Instron, 825 University Ave, Norwood, MA, 02062-2643 for services and equipment for retrofitting Satec 1000K Prism.

Satec is a registered brand name for a series of hydraulic universal testing machines made by Instron, including the Satec 1000K Prism. The Satec equipment contains proprietary parts that can only be purchased from and serviced by Instron; therefore, Instron is the only company that can retrofit the Satec 1000K Prism.

The Government intends to procure from only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). This will be a commercial acquisition using simplified acquisition procedures per FAR 13. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation to the Contract Specialist by 12:00 PM CST, Monday, August 15 2011.
