NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the acquisiton of the housing of the SOFT X-RAYTELESCOPE as follows:PN: 2146120, REV A, HOUSING - 10 UNITSPN: 2146124 REV, DOOR PLATE - 10 UNITSPN: 2146101 REV, ASSEMBLY OF DOOR PLATE INTO HOUSING - 10 UNITSThe soft X-Ray Telescope (SXT) is made of eight housing boxes. Each box contains 203reflector shells to reflect x-rays and focus onto a focal plane detector. The housing isvery complicated and requires very accurate machining process, because the housingaccuracy directly impacts the SXT optical performance. The housing dimension is reliedupon when the eight housing boxes are put together. If the housing dimension is notaccurate enough, it would result in miss-alignment of the reflectors, causing distortionof the housing. This distortion will directly affect the SXT image quality, which iscrucial for the project science goal. Thus, it is imperative the fabricated housing meetsthe required accuracy in the drawing, regardless of the complicated housing design. Therequired lead time is 12-16 weeks to meet the project schedule.(PLEASE NOTE SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE ATTACHED)NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from NORMAN NOBEL, INC. pursuant to FAR 13.106,for the acquisiton of supplies or services determined to be reasobalby available fromonly one source.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon December 6, 2011.
