We require one (1) complete Leica CM1950 (Brand Name or Equal) Cryostat instrument for Birmingham VA Medical Center, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. This is the primary instrument for our lab, used 2-5 times per week to process frozen section requests from our Surgery Service.

Manual cutting capabilities
Cutting speed: Slow (0-50 strokes/minute), Fast (0-85 strokes/minute), Max (85-90 strokes/minute)
Large, open cabinet area to accommodate large specimens; maximum specimen size: 50 x 80 mm
Operating temperature range: 18 degrees C to 35 degrees C
Flat specimen discs
Frost-free enclosed microtome assembly, debris-free
Direct cooling contact which facilitates rapid changes of specimen temperature providing best conditions of sectioning various specimen types
Cool-air circulation uniform cool air in critical areas of the cryochamber and around the specimen, knife and guide for consistent, high quality sectioning
Maximum clamping force independent of the individual user s strength
Ozone-free, built-in UVC disinfection system that is certified to be effective against bacteria, fungi, and virus even at cold temperatures
Antimicrobial coating on the outside surfaces of the cryostat instrument to reduce bacteria growth
Waste removal system for section waste (tissue) and liquid condensate.
A multi-filter system, that includes a HEPA filter, that removes particulates and cleans the air exhausted from the waste removal system
Ergonomic design to protect staff and prevent work-related injuries
Rounded edges to prevent injuries from sharp edges

Instrument must fit in existing space, an area 33 W x 48 H x 31 D.
Instrument shall be new state-of-the-art, not previously used. Remanufactured and discontinued models will not be accepted
