The Food and Drug Administration intends to award an IDIQ, commercial type contract on a non-competitive, sole-source basis to Trek Diagnostic Systems for the delivery of lab supplies for the period of one Base Year and two Option Years. The FDA intends to purchase the following custom plate configurations and lab supplies during the Base Year: 1,070 boxes Custom Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) Plates for Enterococcus, S/W, 10 per box; 111 boxes Mueller Hinton Broth 11ml, 100 per box; 111 boxes Demineralized Water, 100 per box; 111 Doseheads for use with Autoinoculator, 100 per box; 13 boxes 10ul loops, 1000 per box; 7 Backup Tapes for SAMS Computer. These items will be used by the Government in unique Sensititre microtiter plate reading systems which require supplies specific to this equipment. The supplies are only available through the manufacturer, Trek Diagnostic Systems. In order to maintain the consistent testing of isolates and comparability of data, NARMS participating sites must continue to use products from Trek Diagnostic Systems. Changing testing methodology would bias the reporting of susceptibility results and preclude trend analysis of NARMS data thus severely limiting the Government?s ability to respond to emerging resistance problems and outbreaks of resistant zoonotic enteric disease. Trek Diagnostics specializes in antimicrobial susceptibility testing of human and animal pathogens and their products provide specific antimicrobial drugs, as well-defined endpoints, organism growth requirements, and high drug potency. The closing date of this announcement is January 6, 2003. The NAICS is 325413.
