NASA Dryden Flight Research Center (NASA/DFRC) has a requirement to procure "6UVME64 Single/Dual PowerPC SBC (P/N VG5DL8JJ51116); 25 each".NASA/DFRC intends to procure the items from GE Fanuc of Scottsdale, Arizona pursuant to10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other suppliesor services will satisfy agency requirements. GE Fanuc is the sole manufacturer of theirproducts and their regional office located in Scottsdale, Arizona is the sole distributorfor the Southern California area, which includes Edwards AFB, California. This hardwareis custom manufacturered in the configuration needed. There are no other sources' productthat will work interchangeably with the existing hardware on the StratosphericObservatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) Aircraft. GE Fanuc is the sole proprietor ofthis hardware and there are no known small business distributors.The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note26.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00PM (PST) on 13July 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
