The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Mathematical and Computational Sciences Division, through the Acquisition Management Group, NIST, has a requirement for renewal of ABAQUS software maintenance support. NIST intends to award a sole source simplified acquisition to ABAQUS Inc., Providence, RI 02909-2499, under the authority of FAR Part 3.106-1(b), who is only known responsible source that can meet Agency requirements. The purpose of this simplified acquisition is to procure ABAQUS license renewals for 10 Analysis tokens and one seat of ABAQUS/CAE. ABAQUS is the sole owner of the copyright to the software and the sole distributor of licenses. The software license renewal is required to support an existing ABAQUS software program for purposes of uniformity, continuity of services, and cost control. The Government intends to acquire this commercial item using FAR Part 12. The period of performance will be October 15, 2006 through October 14, 2007. Interested concerns may identify their interest and submit a capability statement that demonstrates in a written narrative format detailed information addressing their ability to meet the requirement and objectives as described in this synopsis. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation document is available; therefore, requests for such a document will be considered invalid responses. A determiniation to compete this proposed requirement is solely within the descretion of the Government. If no affirmative responses are received by August 21, 2006 by 3:30 local time, the Contracting Officer will proceed with the award to ABAQUS Inc.
