Request for Information
BACKGROUND: SimLEARN/REdI (Resuscitation Education Initiative) is the national American Heart Training Center for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). To improve Veteran outcomes, the VHA adopted a standardized resuscitation training approach for all staff requiring this training for their VHA roles. The VHA serves 154 medical centers, more than 1200 outpatient facilities, totaling 250,000 healthcare professionals.
SCOPE: The VHA SimLEARN/REdI is requesting information on resuscitation training programs that meet International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and Cardiovascular Care Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) guidelines.
Resuscitation Training Courseware:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training courseware.
Allows students to work through realistic eSimulation patient cases online.
Online cognitive learning modules must include educational videos, interactive learning with avatars, and a multiple-choice exam in addition to the eSimulation patient cases.
Provides ability for student practice and testing of hands-on skills on a mobile Simulation Station without the need for an instructor.
Provides flexibility for student to complete training every two years or in a low-dose high-frequency approach.
Training must run on a platform that communicates with the VHA learning management system, TMS.
Describe your organization s ability to meet the VHA requirements for BLS courseware. What is the approximate cost per learner?
Advanced Life Support (ALS) Provider training courseware.

Can your organization meet the VHA requirements for PALS courseware? If yes, what is the approximate cost per learner?
Equipment: Our current programs can be accessed from any computer for the didactic portion. The current skills completion program is compatible with Windows 7 and utilizes Google Chrome. The skills are completed on a mobile testing station with two manikins: Resusci Anneî QCPR RQIî Manikin and Resusci Babyî QCPR RQIî Manikin.
Resusci Anneî QCPR RQIî Manikin
Adult torso CPR manikin with realistic anatomical landmarks and electronics/firmware within the manikin that allow communication with the skills software.
Standardized configuration requirements for skills completions are intended to simulate the average adult/child chest stiffness of 45 psi.
Compatible with both AHA s RQIî and HeartCodeî software interfaces.
Power supply is through the USB cable when attached to display on station.
Resusci Babyî QCPR RQIî Manikin
Infant full-body CPR manikin with realistic anatomical landmarks and electronics/firmware within the manikin that allow communication with the skills software.
Standardized configuration requirements for skills completions are intended to simulate the average infant chest stiffness.
Compatible with both AHA s RQIî and HeartCodeî software interfaces.
Power supply is through the USB cable when attached to display on station.
What are the minimum specifications for computers to run your courseware? What browser and version of Windows does your courseware require?
Will your courseware interface with this current equipment? If yes, will your courseware interface with other equipment, as well? If not, what equipment would be needed? What is the cost of the equipment that would be needed?
