In accordance with FAR subpart 13.106-1(b) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to BlueCat Networks, located in Toronto, Ohio. The purchase order is for the following: 1) Addonis 1000 DNS/DHCP IDE, QTY-3; to include shipping, consulting and instalation, and technical support. 2) Proteus 3000 IPAM Appliance, QTY-1; to include shipping, consulting and instalation, and technical support. The intention of this purchase is to satisfy an urgent need to increase the security aspects of the DNS servies that reside in the Internet area of the CDC network. Of the products reviewed, the BlueCat DNS appliance implementation with the management module provides a uniquely detailed type of DNS query logging required for security audits, a hardware platform that also inherently provides increased security, and the level of functionality and availability required by CDC. Therefore, CDC believes that BlueCat Networks is the only responsible source able to provide these supplies and services.
