The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with EMC Corporation, 8444 Westpark Drive, Ste 700, McLean, VA 22102, under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.5, for the purchase of (17) 1000GB Storage Upgrades on Government owned Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) and 2 port fiber channels. The Subsystems were purchased in 2002 directly from EMC using a Blanket Purchase Agreement. It is essential to have EMC install the storage upgrades themselves in order to prevent violating the warranty provisions. SSA will not accept any used or refurbished equipment. It is our understanding that as the DASD equipment is older that new equipment is only available through the original equipment manufacturer, which is EMC. The DASD equipment is located in the Philadelphia ROCC in Philadelphia, PA 19123. This is not a request for quote; quotes submitted in response to this notice will not be considered. Interested parties that believe they can provide the required equipment must respond to this notice no later than 3:00 p.m. EST May 28, 2004.
