The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee) is pursuing partnerships with U.S. commercial manufacturers of office model paper schrreders which must be UL approved and designed for heavier duty use by one to three people who shred 50-100 time per day. Features should include: a) A strip cut model; b) A confetti cut model considered a confidential security cust; c) Recommended daily capacity of 2,000-4,000 sheets; d) Electronic start and stop functions; e) 7/32 inch strips - 18-20 sheet capacity; f) 5/32 inch X1 particles - 12-14 sheet capacity; g) Manufacturers must provide nation waide service repairs support; h) Provide a minimum 2 years warranty on the shredder and 20-year warranty on the cutting cylinder which meet the following criteria: 1) Possession of a nationally known brand name that can be demonstrated to have significant appeal through evidence of substantial sales. 2) Willingness to enter into a multi-year agreement, which includes technical assistance, to have a nonprofit agency that meets the criteria of the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Program to assemble and/or package the products in question thereby creating employment for people who are blind or severely disabled. 3) Commitment to working independently with the JWOD team to market the products to Government customers under the JWOD Program. 4) Willingness to work with the nonprofit agency, NIB and the Committee to ensure that the products' price to end-users is a fair and reasonable price. 5) Manufacturers' submissions must demonstrate that the specific products meet the various criteria, as well as indicate what functions the nonprofit agency's employees would perform. Only manufacturers need respond. No response is required from nonprofit agencies. More information about the JWOD Program can be found at www.jwod.gov.
