The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), located in Bethesda, MD has a requirement for 130 8 GB Apple iTouches.  USU is the only federal medical university.  The Apple iTouch will be issued to the 2012 medical class.  This request for quotes (RFQ) is issued in accordance with FAR Part 12-Acquistion of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquistion Procedures.  This solicitation incorporates FAC 05-35.  The applicable NAICS code for this requirement is 423620 - Electrical and Electronic Appliance, Television, and Radio Set Merchant Wholesalers.  This solicitation is issued as full and open. 

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.

Competition is limited to the 8 GB Apple iTouch.  The Apple iTouch is the only device that supports the following software package that does not require a monthly service fee:

•·         Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards

•·         Lexi-Complete

•·         Epocrates Essentials

Quotes are due on August 13^th at 9:00 a.m. EST.  Quotes must be emailed to [email protected].  Faxed or mailed quotes will not be accepted.

The resultant single award will be a firm fixed price purchase order to the contractor that represents the best value to the government in terms o f price and delivery.  Quoted items must meet the specifications provided in the RFQ to be considered for award.  Contractors must provide sufficient detail in their quotes demonstrating the quoted item meets the specifications listed in the RFQ.

Contractors must also include in their quotes the earliest delivery date available.

Contractors must also complete FAR Provision 52.212-3 (Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items) and DFAR Provision 252.225-7020 (Trade Agreements Certificate), which are included in the attached RFQ.
