Description: U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering Center (NSRDEC), Natick, MA, is seeking information from industry to determine potential sources of ballistic fragmentation and blunt trauma protective knee and elbow pads that can be integrated with current battle uniforms such as (but not limited to) the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) and Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU). Pads shall be worn over said uniforms and not interfere with the form or function of the garments. Joint protection systems must articulate and not impede the range of motion of the user. Retention must be securely maintained throughout use without causing discomfort to the user and while still allowing for quick donning and doffing. If there are no solutions that offer ballistic protection, those that offer significant low-speed impact protection will be investigated.
