NASA/MSFC has a requirement for 150 feet of AGO370-8HS/3501-6 GRAPHITE/EPOXY FABRIC PREPREG MATERIAL NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Hexcel Corporarion for the following reasons: Hexcel Corporation is the manufacturer and only supplier of AGP370-8HS/3501-6 fabric composite prepreg. This is an exclusive Hexcel product. AGP370-8HS/3501-6 prepreg has been chosen as the composite prepreg material of choice for the current effort through a down selection process initiated by the Upper Stage Systems Tunnel Integrated Product Team. This material has been used in components for the NASA Space Shuttle External Tank and has properties which make it attractive for use in the Ares I vehicle. No other vendor satisfies this requirement. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 10/23/07. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
