The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to award the purchase order to Aquatic Food Products Laboratory, University of Florida, PO Box 110375, Gainesville, Florida 32511. The contractor shall provide services to conduct shipboard studies on the conditions of harvest and handling that affect the development of fish products decomposition, particularly scombrotoxin formation. The contractor shall provide fishing vessel and with a professional crew with all the necessary materials to catch fish products in the Gulf of Mexico to support research sampling experiments. The contractor shall procure the fish caught, package the fish on dry ice, and ship the fish to the FDA designated research facility. The FDA anticipates 3 fishing trips and requires 1 to 3 FDA investigators to go on each trip. The contractor shall notify FDA in a timely manner to prepare for each trip. The FDA anticipates a (1) one-year period or performance.
