SYNOPSIS The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement for aircraft sa= tellite (Iridium) voice and data communication systems (SatTalk II) and ass= ociated equipment consisting of the Motorola Model 9505 Iridium satellite p= hones with accessory kits, and SatTalk II cabin kits. These systems are to= be installed in the FAA's fleet aircraft. The Sat Talk II system was desi= gned and manufactured by Icarus Instruments, Inc., Takoma Park, Maryland, a= nd is proprietary to that firm. The SatTalk II system is the only system a= uthorized by Iridium for integrating the Motorola satellite phone Model 950= 5 into the aircraft. The equipment identified in Section B of the solicita= tion document is the only configuration of equipment that may be proposed, = there shall be no substitution. There is no air time requirement on this s= olicitation, it is for equipment only. This equipment configuration is req= uired to insure compatibility with other aircraft components and is to be i= nstalled and work with the Iridium Satellite communication system.
