RFQ 786-73-05 Replacement Capstone, Die Block, and Base for Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, supervision, equipment and materials to provide the unfinished replacement marble Capstone (estimated weight 12 tons), unfinished Die Block (estimated weight 48 tons) and unfinished Base (estimated weight 16 tons) for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Sample analysis results as specified in the statement of work must accompany quotations. Quality of marble blocks must match that of the existing monument. Capstone, Die Block and Base must be available for Government Inspection and Acceptance within sixty days of contract award. Contractor may be required to store and protect the stones up to one year after Government Inspection and Acceptance. Marble pieces will be made available to sculpture contractor upon notice from the Government. Award will be made on the basis specified in the solicitation. This acquisition is unrestricted. All responsible concerns may submit a quotation. Requests for hard copies of the solicitation must be in writing to Mr. Mark Sanderson and be accompanied by a check or money order in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) (non-refundable), made payable to _U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
