This sources sought announcement is in support of market research being conducted by the National Institutes of Health to identify small business sources (including veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, 8(a) business, and women-owned small business concerns) that are capable of performing the following requirements: Fabrication of Multielectrode Arrays (MEAs) specifically optimized for use in the NIDCD mission areas of voice, speech, hearing, and balance. Novel fabrication techniques are required for precise and rapid construction of MEAs suitable for use in chronic animal studies, although the materials and fabrication techniques to be developed should be adaptable for eventual use in human subjects. Outside groups will utilize these electrodes in chronic animal studies and subsequently provide requests for specific modifications or refinements in the electrode design and construction. New MEA variations will then be constructed and distributed under this award in order to support cycles of electrode design and testing for neural prosthesis development.
