See Numbered Note 22. Under contract N00174-02-C-0036, IHDIVNAVSURFWARCEN and Lockheed Martin jointly developed and tested concepts for a supercavitating penetrator based on a stepped nose pin. The purpose of this initial effort was to achieve deeper warhead penetration into concrete but analysis also predicted better performance in soil and water. This effort is a modification to contract N00174-02-C-0036 and will provide for additional research and modeling, 4 prototype penetrator designs, a build and test of said designs, and a redesign.
