For further information, contact the Contract Specialist Sharon Kent at 206-526-6035.*** The National Marine Fisheries Service, Honolulu Laboratory is conducting research to find modified longline fishing methods which will reduce the incidental capature of sea turtles while allowing the fisher to remain economically viable. The Contractor(s) shall under ESA permit, perform experimental fishing operations in units of longline sets using specified numbers and type of branch lines and floats and specified lengths of main line at a negotiated fixed price per set. Fishing will occur in the central North Pacific at great distance from port (100 to 900 nautical miles from Honolulu) will require vessels suitable for rough water work, with sufficient fuel, water and food stores to remain at sea for at least 25 days from December 1, 2002 to July 31, 2003. Different categories of experimental fishing methods will be used. Offerors are encouraged, but not required, to proposal on all fishing categories. This acquisition is 100% set-aside for small businesses.
