The Government intends to award on a sole source basis to Mechanical Solutions Incorporated in partnership with Argonne National Labs the following five tasks: Task 1: Conceive evaluate and down-select materials and geometry configurations 1. direct coating of tungsten penetrators 2. a dual coating consisting of NFC over a thin layer of Rhenium Oxide 3. layered NFC coatings in which a Tungsten or Tungsten Carbide overlay is placed over an initial NFC coating, where then the overlay is coated itself Task 2: Design configuration details of promising three concepts Task 3: Analyze penetration dynamics and wear Task 4: Manufacturing study and fabrication of prototypes Task 5: Test material geometric compatibility, survivability and scale operation Note 22 and 26 apply.
