The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) intends to award a sole source contract to Lockheed Martin Corporation, Maritime Systems and Sensors Division, Niagara Falls, New York for a âLand Gradiometer Systemâ, for the collection of static gravity gradient data. Gravity gradient data represents the spatial variations of the Earthâs natural and man-made gravitational fields. The data collected with this device will be used in the NGA Innovision Research and Development program in the area of Geodesy and Geophysics. The measured gradients obtained from this system, after an appropriate averaging period, must be precise to better than 0.5 E (1E = (10-9m/s2)/m = 10-9/s2) and must contain the components that comprise the differential curvature magnitude and minimum curvature azimuth. The collection of the aforementioned data will require the services of a fully operational, ground based, gravity gradiometer survey system.
