The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a Purchase Order on a sole source basis to Biocon, Inc., based on the authority granted by FAR Part 6.302-1, to conduct a Mouse Oral Toxicity Study in 540 BALB/c female mice, 6 weeks old. The study includes purchase of 540 mice (described above); Housing for 7 days quarantine and 16 days BSLII conditions; Technical Assistance to administer 360 mice by oral gavage and 180 mice via IP injection, weighing mice prior to study, 5 times post dose administration and at conclusion of the study; euthanizing mice at study termination; project management oversight; and materials and supplies. We require the use of a supplier with prior experience conducting toxicity studies with abrin & rincin per CDC and PHS guidelines. Biocon, Inc. is the only supplier with prior experience conducting abrin toxicity studies. An award will be made in ten (10) days from the date of this notice. Sources may submit a quote, which fully demonstrate their capabilities, which will be considered by the agency. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
