The Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has a requirement to establish a cooperative consortium of investigators to promote and foster excellence in primary immunodeficiency disease research. The Consortium will provide leadership and mentoring; facilitate collaborations; enhance coordination of research efforts; and solicit, peer-review, recommend and award support for small clinical, pre-clinical and basic research projects. In addition, the Consortium will establish and maintain for the life of the contract a Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases Registry. This contract consists of two parts Part A to establish the Primary Immune Deficiency Consortium and Part B (OPTION) to expand the registry by creating and managing a repository of cell lines derived from registered individuals. Offerors must respond and submit proposals for Part A AND Part B. Proposals for Part A alone or Part B alone will not be reviewed. One contract will be awarded, with the contractor establishing the consortium and coordinating the effort through the use of subcontracts with academic and medical institutions, foundations, and industry. It is anticipated that the proposed contract resulting from this RFP will be for a period of five (5) years, beginning approximately on September 2, 2003.
