The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission intends to award a sole source contract to Purdue University to allow the contractor to continue using the existing PUMA test facility to conduct tests and data collection that is relevant to ESBWR (a new type of Boiling Water Reactor) reactor, validate the TRAC-M system code for ESBWR safety analysis, and provide technical support to NRC staff. The PUMA data to be produced under this contract are needed for model improvement and code assessment in support of the NRC's Thermal Hydraulic code consolidation research plan. This contract is a follow on to Contract No. NRC-04-98-045, which began the design and scaling analysis for the PUMA integral test facility. Purdue University is the only known source with the knowledge, expertise, and the facility that can provide the test data to be obtained by PUMA. The period of performance is one year with 4 one-year option periods. This is not a request for competitive proposals. Requests for copies of the solicitation will not be honored unless the respondent provides evident showing their capability to perform the required services. See Note 22.****
