Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), is procuring thin superconducting Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) films deposited on a metal substrate, such as copper, with a film thickness of 0.5+ 0.1 mm, using the reactive evaporation deposition method. NSWCCD intends to negotiate a non-competitive procurement using Simplified Acquisition Procedures and award a firm-fixed price purchase order to Superconductor Technologies, Inc, (STI). STI is the sole developer and patent holder of this method. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties may forward their capabilities statements to the Government POC on or before 10/08/07.
