The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) has a requirement for The US Army Center for Environmental Health Research (USACEHR) at Fort Detrick, MD. USACEHR intends to contract with a research facility that is fully accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International for a study protocol with a targeted and comprehensive set of exposures that have been designed and are required for biomarker identification. This study will be conducted using Long Evans male rats exposed to the organophosphorus (OP) pesticide chlorpyrifos (CPF), followed by behavioral (cued and contextual fear) conditioning, assessments of acetylcholinesterase inhibition and histopathological evaluation of brain and pancreas. The exposure protocol will last for 21 days and will require the use of approximately 100 animals. The contractor will be required to ship to USACEHR the following tissues and biofluids for analysis: urine, blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, liver, pancreas, sympathetic ganglia, lungs, entorhinal cortex and the CA1 hippocampal region. The contractor will be required to perform a demonstration protocol prior to the onset of the exposure protocol to show expertise in cued and contextual fear conditioning and microdissection of the CA1 hippocampal brain region.

This acquisition will be a Firm Fixed price contract. One contract shall be awarded on a Best Value basis to the offeror whose proposal is considered most advantageous to the government given its responsiveness to all aspects and requirements of the solicitation and considering price and other non-price related factors. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541712.
