The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement to upgrade an existing AB Sciex MALDI 4700 with a high mass ion detection MALDI TOF retrofit system for detection into the MegaDalton mass range. This retrofit will improve detection without removing the original MCP detector or affecting/degrading the manufacturer specifications/applications. This CovalX MALDI high-mass detector retrofit solution includes a HM2 high-mass MALDI ToF detector system with high-mass detector up to masses of 1000 kDa, mounting flange and cover to ABI 4800 MALDI ToF/ToF, high-vacuum chamber, high-vacuum motor, high-vacuum high-voltage power supplies and controller, and HM2 wireless iPod Touch Controller. This upgrade/retrofit includes on-site installation, on-site training of basic CovalX HM2 operation, specifications report, user's manual, and one-year warranty on parts, labor and services.

This AB Sciex MALDI 4700 retrofit meets our research requirements and the Government intends to negotiate with the only known responsible source, CovalX Instruments Incorporated as it is the only company that can provide the high mass ion detection retrofit system that is supported by the original equipment manufacturer (AB Sciex).

This solicitation incorporates the following commercial FAR clauses by reference 52.212-1, 52.212-2, 52.212-3, 52.212-4, and 52.212-5. The following applicable FAR clauses are incorporated by reference: 52.219-6, 52.222-3, 52.222-19, 52.222-21, 52.222-26, 52.222-35, 52.222-36, 52.225-13, 52.232-33, 52.232-36 (FAR clauses may be obtained at www.acquisition.gov). Funds are not currently available for this acquisition and award will be made subject to the availability of funds.
