The Federal Bureau of Prisons, U. S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, Springfield, Missouri, intends to award on a sole source base under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1 with Fresenius, 95 Hayden, Lexington, MA 02173 for acids and bicarbonate mixtures for treatment of dialysis patients. The acids and bicarbonate are a specific mixture and have been calibrated with current Fresenius dialysis machines to ensure accurate conductivity and PH is maintained. Estimated quantities and products are as follows: 1K+ Acid, Naturalyte 6000 Series 55 gallon drum, 20 drums; 2K+ Acid, Naturalyte 6000 Series, 55 gallon drum, 1000 drums; 3K+ Acid, Naturalyte 6000 Series, 55 gallon drum, 200 drums; Bicarbonate, Naturalyte 6100 Dry Pack, 28 treatments, 2000 bags, and Bicarbonate, Naturalyte 6000 RX-10 Dry Pack, 10 treatments, 1500 bags. The procurement will be for a firm-fixed priced purchase order for the anticipated period 10/1/08 through 9/30/09. Any firm who believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer by September 3, 2008, 2:00 p.m. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirements listed and must show competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses received will be evaluated, however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. If no responses are received, the Government will proceed with the sole source procurement to Fresenius.
