Special Notice: The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Region Acquisition Division-Kansas City, MO, is awarding a Purchase Order for the purchase of combined acoustic tag (transmitter) and receiver package from Amirix Systems Inc., d/b/a Vemco, Division of ) of Halifax, NS Canada. These items are being purchased for the NOAA/National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Panama City Branch 3500 Delwood Beach Road, Panama City, FL. The description of the items is as follows: 1) 25 ea -Acoustic Tags P/N V16-5H-A69-1601; 2) 16 ea - Coded Acoustic Receiver (69KHz) P/N VR2W-69kHZ w/Bluetooth; and 3) 1 ea - Omni-directional Hydrophone with Custom 30 Meter Cable, P/N VH165. These items are proprietary to Vemco, Inc. who is the only known source of supply. There are an array of Vemco VR-2W passive acoustic receivers that already exist in the proposed study site. Any addition in terms of receivers or tags must be fully compatible with the existing array or data will not be acquired. There are other companies that manufacture acoustic networks and tags, but they are incompatible with the Vemco products. The Government knows of no other manufacturer that can provide a product that meets their requirements. Market Research: The Government conducted a market research and found there are other manufacturers that can provide acoustic tag and receiver package, but they do not meet the requirements. Vemco is the only known manufacturer that can provide a product that meets the Government's requirements. A sources sought was posted on FedBizOpps under NFFN71101106131KLC on August 6, 2011 for a 10-day posting with no responses received.
