The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) conducts and supports research on many of the most serious diseases affecting public health. The Institute supports much of the clinical research on the disorders of internal medicine and related subspecialty fields, as well as many basic science disciplines.

The NIDDK requires a system to purify biomolecules from complex starting materials derived from cell lysates, tissue homogenates, in vitro and in vivo recombinant protein expression systems, and other sources.  The FPLC system we will use for purification must be able to perform separations based on a variety of sample characteristics, such as molar mass, net surface charge, hydrophobicity, and affinity while retaining biological activity.  The desire is to automate the running of both small and large affinity and ion-exchange chromatography columns on the system, as well as a variety of gel filtration media.

The contractor shall provide the following to brand name specifications:

1: AKTA pure 25M FPLC system (29018226), inlet valve kit V9-IAB (29011357), outlet valve kit V9-Os (29011356), fraction collector F9-C (29027743), sample pump S9 (29027745), sample inlet valve kit V9-IS (29027746), cassette for 3 mL tubes (28956427), cassette for 15 mL tubes (28956404), Unicorn workstation pure-BP-exp (29128816), column valve kit V9-c (29011367), and injection kit inv-907 (18111089)
