The California Prison Industry Authority is soliciting for custom almond pasteurization services, using validated processes, for approximately 375 combined acres of almond crops located at Central California Women¿s Facility (CCWF) and Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla, California. The CALPIA will deliver the almonds to, and pick the almonds up from, the Contractor for processing. The Contractor must be an ABC approved Custom Processor (CP) and all equipment and processes used by the Contractor to treat almonds must be validated by an ABC approved Process Authority (PA) and by ABC¿s Technical Expert Review Panel (TERP). The Contractor must have current documentation and/or certification from ABC affirming that the equipment, treatment, and custom processes used to service almonds results in the 5-log reduction of Salmonella and the ability for the end product to be labeled as ¿pasteurized¿.
