The Uniformed Services University of the Health and Sciences (USUHS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (2)(b)(1), with Harlan Teklad, Madison, WI for one base year and four option years, to provide animal feed, Teklad Global 20% Protein Primate Diet Jumbo, Teklad Rodent Diet, and bedding Teklad "Maple" Sani Chip Bedding to be used in current research projects. This sole source is based on the need to maintain the USUHS research animal colony within strict husbandry specifications. These products have been established and have been in use during the continuing research projects.  Variability in feed and bedding products could lead to unwanted changes in research results and the invalidation of scientific conclusions. These items are being procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Pt. 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Pt 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This is not a request for quotes; sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide convincing evidence that they can provide the same equipment as stated above.
