Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics (DCEG), plans to procure the services for assessment of Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone, SHBG, Prolactin, and FSH, serum levels with breast cancer risk factors and normal breast biopsies.

This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1).
Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. An award will be made on an all or nothing basis.

Period of performance shall be for twelve months from date of award.

The purpose of this procurement is to measure serum levels among 900 subjects and 100 QC samples of testosterone, FSH, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, and sex hormone-binding globulin. NCI will correlate serum hormone levels with tissue receptor expression, lobular involution, and assess multivariate relationships using risk factor data collected via questionnaire as covariates.

The contractor shall use the ADVIA Centaur assay which can measure all but SHBG and testosterone. Testestorone shall be measured by LC/MS which is the most accurate way to measure this hormone at this time.

For subjects identified by NCI investigators, 900 subjects as well as 100 QC samples for a total of 1000 subjects, calculate the concentration of hormones by the ADVIA Centaur. Approximately, 10% blinded duplicate samples that are obtained from ineligible subjects shall be included to assess between batch variation and QA, the duplicate samples shall be tested at the same time as the eligible 900 subject samples.
