UT-Battelle, LLC, acting under its Prime Contract No. DE-AC05-00OR22725 with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the management and operation of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), is seeking a commercialization partner(s) for a promising commercial invention entitled, "Automatic Refilling System Liquid Helium Cryogenics."

Technology:  This device uses components and software to help automatically refill cryostats making decisions based on software logic and hardware inputs and outputs to minimize neutron production time loss in the Spallation Neutron Source. At research facilities, scientist know that filling with liquid helium can be a challenge from filling every day or twice a day depending on the level of consumption of cryo-fluid, the type of cryostat or superconducting magnets. Some research facilities have established standardized procedures for such filing operations, whereas others do not; they rather maintain the cryostat systems on a more ad hoc basis. This invention addresses the problem and automates the process.
