The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC intends to award on a sole source basis to Rutgers University the requirement for an energetics manufacturing science that includes developing and testing advanced quality control capabilities to improve the manufacturing of energetics. The scientists and engineers of Rutgers have pioneered the integration of powder mixing technology, both in education and research, launching the first Pharmaceutical Engineering Program in the Nation in 1996, and developing substantial strength in pharmaceutical materials synthesis and characterization, and developing experimental databases and predictive models for suspension mixing, powder blending, granulation, drying, and compression, design of continuous processes, and monitoring of dissolution performance.
