Contractor will maintain a collaborative relationship with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to continue updating the registry of hunters who purchased a license to hunt deer and/or elk in Wyoming. Contractor will identify Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (VCJD) in the Wyoming state mortality database and cross-check against the hunter registry. Contractor will develop an algorithm and generate a list of hunters to be submitted to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) for cross-checking against the National Death Index (NDI) to determine their vital status. This proposed contract is a continuation of an ongoing project that CDC has been providing funds to the Wyoming Department of Health as part of the Epidemiology Laboratory Capacity building program of the National Center for Infectious Diseases, CDC. It is believed that Wyoming Department of Health is the only known institution that meets the requirements mentioned above. It is the intent of CDC to award a contract to Wyoming Department of Health if this is found to be true.
