The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ anticipates soliciting sole source a firm fixed-price requirement under authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c) (1) and FAR 6.302-1(a) (2) (iii) (B) to Covance Laboratories Inc., in Vienna, VA to perform studies and mutagenicity assays on Bismuth-Silver slugs for M855LFS 5.56 mm cartridges. This work is required to obtain data on the mutagenic potential of BiSn leachate. This assay is intended to address the effects of BiSn which might solubilize in the environment after firing. The contractor shall conduct the following Mutagenicity assays and provide a final technical report with all findings based on these assays: Ames reverse mutation assay, Chromosomal aberrations in CHO cells, Mouse lymphoma forward mutation assay, In vivo mouse micronucleus assay.
