Notice of Intent to negotiate a sole source contract with PRO Delphinus in Lima, Peru for NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service, Southwest Fisheries Science Center, La Jolla, CA to conduct training and place observers on fishing vessel to collect data on sea turtle bycatch, observers wil also survey sea turtle interactions reported by fishers at ports along the Pervian coast. Observers and fishers will be trained to implement procedures to reduce mortality resulting from bycatch, including resuscitation of comatose turtles and use of dehooking devices and line-cutters to free entangled or hook turtles. This project seeks to obtain information and samples from sea turtles that are caught incidentally in artisanal fisheries and Peru, and that are otherwise encountered in Peruvian waters. The period is for one year, with one option year. ****The Western Regional Acquisition Division, requires that all contractors doing business with this Acquisition Office be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) as of October 1, 2003.
