The National Institute on Aging, IRP, intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis with Stereology Resource Center, 104 Ringneck Ct., Chester, MD for stereology-related services. The services required are as follows: maintain and trouble-shoot two stereologer systems at LEG, NIA; group and individual training of LEG personnel on the principles and practices of computerized stereology approaches; assist individual LEG scientists and technical personnnel in the design of stereological studies to avoid known sources of stereological and non-stereological bias; meet with LEG personnel to review progress, answer questions, and proide expert advice in support of ongoing stereological studies; implement quality control procedures and supervise inter- and intra-rater reliability to ensure accurate collection of data using the Stereologer systems; assist LEG personnel in statistical analysis and graphical representation of results; participate as a co-author in the preparation and submission of manuscripts; periodically upgrade hardware and software as needed to maintain equipment in state-of-the art condition and prepare fly tissues for proper histology, stain tissue for histological analysis, and conduct stereological analyses on these slides. Stereology Resource Center is the only known source which can provide all the services needed.The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code is 541990 and the size standard is 500 employees. This acquisition is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Govenrment.
