The Flow Cytometry Center at the National Institute of Environmental Health is seeking to purchase an annual maintenance agreement for the Becton Dickinson (BD) Bioscience's Flow Cytometers. The government intends to award a sole source contract to Becton Dickinson Biosciences for the annual maintenance, repair and service for various BD Bioscience's flow cytometers that are already currently located in NIEHS. The flow cytometers include, but are not limited to the following: 100-Service Contract FACSAria II Special (No lasers), Catalog # 643925; 200-Sevice Contract Laser Sapphire 488-50 Blue, Catalog # 646989; 300-Service Contract Laser COHR Cube 640-40 Red, Catalog # 647310; 400-Service Contract Laser Violet 405-100,Catalog # 647316; 500-Service Contract FACSAria II Special (No Lasers), Catalog

The flow cytomter instruments (LSRII, and 3 FACSAriaII) located in the Flow Cytometry Center at NIEHS were originally purchased and installed by Becton Dickinson, San Jose, CA. These instruments analyze cells in flow at rates up to 15,000 cells per second, have multiple parameters for analysis, and can physically isolate cells of interest using both light scattering and fluorescent properties of the cell. These flow cytometry instruments are manufactured and sold exclusively by Becton Dickinson in the U.S. The technology is Becton Dickinson's proprietary products and is not available from other sources. Becton Dickinson and no other source of suppliers can provide genuine Becton Dickinson parts, timely maintenance, and upgrade service or services on these instruments. Additionally, if problems arise, technical phone support directly with a Becton Dickinson engineer is included that provides immediate assistance in getting the instruments operational in a timely manner. Becton Dickinson provides field service engineers who are specifically trained on the repair and maintenance of these particular pieces of equipment. Becton Dickinson is the only company that has the ability to provide field service engineers who are specially trained on the repair and maintenance of these particular pieces of equipment in a timely manner and provides direct phone support with a BD engineer.
