The user (the FRRL) has experience using this product over the last two years at an outside lab and will allow for carryover of previously captured data. Additionally, the following requirements are necessary for future flow cytometry, and these requirements include:

1. A blue laser with an optical filter suitable for proidium iodide.
2. Users must be able to perform routine maintenance of fluidics, namely filter and tubing replacement.
3. A 64-bit external computer.
4. Analysis software compatible with FlowJo on a PC and Mac. FlowJo is common third party software for translation of flow cytometry results.
5. A log zoom scale of over 6 decades for sensitive detection of high polyploidy in plants.
6. The ability to use microcentrifuge tubes for sample reading and deionized water for sheath fluid.
7. Flow rates up to 1 OOuL/ second and a core size up to 40um to prevent clogging of plant cells.
