This is a combined synopsis/solicitation prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition procedures pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13, and FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. Solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The NAICS classification is 325199.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division intends to procure a total of 200 G of BILIRUBIN to meet specs as follows:

The item to be acquired is 200 G of chemical bilirubin to be used in the preparation of a NIST Standard Reference Material (SRM). This item is commercially available but it needs to be of relatively high purity (> 98.5% or better total bilirubin) for it to be acceptable as an SRM material with certified purity values.
