This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Background: The Lupus Clinical Trials Unit (LCTU) of the Intramural Research Program at NIAMS performs multiple types of shearing-based assays to improve our understanding of the genomic effects of glucocorticoids, a class of drugs that has been used to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases for 70 years but remains poorly understood. We seek to apply functional genomics approaches to the solution of this medically important question related to the immune system. This type of knowledge is expected to improve our current clinical approaches to be able to better diagnose patients and develop therapies to treat them. To support the lab’s research, LCTU is seeking to purchase a sonication system which offers shearing of nucleic acids, chromatin, tissue and cell disruption, and protein aggregation. The device will allow for DNA shearing to perform next-generation sequencing, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq experiments to analyze chromatin accessibility, to obtain protein cell lysates and protein extraction from tissues for mass spectrometer and for Cytometric Bead Array (CBA) assays. Purpose: The Lupus Clinical Trials Unit (LCTU) seeks to purchase a sonication system to perform shearing of nucleic acids, chromatin, tissue and cell disruption for preparing samples for next-generation sequencing, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and mass spectrometry.
