The Bloomsburg University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is performing research that will require a Bioruptor system that will do the following: shear chromatin for Immunoprecipitation (ChIP), shear DNA for Methylated DNA IP and extract DNA, RNA and proteins from cells, viruses and bacteria. Diagenode has developed validated protocols for these processes. Unique features for the Diagenode Bioruptor are: Ultrasounds are derived from magnets below the water tank not from probes inserted into samples. (developed and patented by Diagenode) Unique patented resonance system indirectly transfers ultrasonic energy to samples. Sonication is done in sealed tubes No aerosol formation – improved biosafety No risk of contamination between samples No tedious manipulation of probes Reduced “foaming” Allows simultaneous sonication of multiple samples Different adaptors available to sonicate various volumes In a single run possible to sonicate up to 12 x .5 ml PC tubes, 6 x 1.5 ml Eppendorf tubes or 6 x 15ml Corning/Falcon tubes. Possible to sonicate very small samples, down to 10ul Use of standard disposable containers High shearing efficiency and highly reproducible results Continuous rotation of tubes allows even distribution of energy and temperature Tube holders always at the same height relative to the ultrasound source Better temperature control improves preservation of epitopes Validated protocols are available for consistent generation Allows standardized transfer of proctocols between labs Since Diagenode is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this product line with patented technology, there is no opportunity for competitive bidding for this purchase.
