To assist in the design and construction of an aluminum monohull hydrographic survey vessel.

C002 VESSEL OPERATION
The new survey vessel shall operate as a hydrographic survey platform for 95% of its operational time and as a side scanning platform for 5% of its operational time. The vessel shall be used overnight in emergency situations only. The vessel shall be capable of at least 25-30 knots in the full load condition (defined in Clause C155) at 85% engine rated power.
The vessel shall operate 2,000 hours per year. During operation, the vessel shall operate at the following speeds:
• Cruise speed (85% power) - 25% of time
• Low-speed surveying (20% power) - 5% of time
• High-speed surveying (80% power) - 60% of time
• Maximum speed (100% power) - 10% of time
Note that the maximum duration of transit at 100% power is 2 hours.
The vessel will be suitable for year-round operation, day and night, within 40 miles of shore. The vessel will be designed to withstand the ambient temperature range as stated by ASHRAE for New Orleans, LA, or as otherwise described in this specification.
