Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking data processing and analysis services to provide detailed estimates of passenger movements through the Metrobus and Metrorail systems. The resulting Passenger Movement Analysis system (¿PMA¿) will combine bus and train movement data (automatic vehicle locations systems, or ¿AVL¿) with SmarTrip data (automatic fare collection, ¿farecard¿ or ¿AFC¿ data), and bus automatic passenger counter data (¿APC¿) to infer the details of each passenger¿s movements which may then be aggregated to examine crowding, train loads, and other operational concerns.
