FINDINGS:
The paint on the ceiling of the dining area of the student cafeteria is peeling and falling.
The dining area ceiling is the underside of the steel decking of the roof. The decking has rigid insulation, plywood, and asphalt shingles on the exterior side. The interior is fastened directly to steel purlins spanning steel I -beams.
The existing building does not have any separation of conditioned space and the underside of the steel deck, therefore, the steel roof deck has become the main thermal transfer point between outside atmosphere and interior conditioned air.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Remove all loose paint from underside of existing steel roof decking. Clean the entire area to be painted and prime for new paint.
Prime all bare metal prior to painting.
Paint ceiling with (2) coats of paint to match the existing ceiling.
Provide technical data sheets on all materials used prior to final invoice.
Provide a One Year warranty on all surfaces painted.
Bids will be evaluated on price, Contractor expertise, experience and quality.
