In accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(1) and 5.201, this is a Notice of intent to award a sole-source contract. This is NOT a request for proposals. The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore Branch, Contracting Division, on behalf of the Washington Aqueduct, intends to award a sole source contract to Alfa Laval, Inc. for centrifuge maintenance services. Alfa Laval, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of ALDEC G2-120 Alfa-Laval decanter centrifuges. Any maintenance conducted to the centrifuges must be completed by a technician certified by Alfa Laval, Inc. Alfa Laval, Inc. is the only known responsible source within any reasonable geographic area and it is in the interest of the Government to obtain these services from Alfa Laval, Inc. Alfa Laval, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of ALDEC G2-120 Alfa-Laval decanter centrifuges. Any maintenance conducted to the centrifuges must be completed by a technician certified by Alfa Laval, Inc. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary contract personnel, materials, service, and equipment during the servicing of the specified centrifuges. For this support, USACE intends to award a contract to Alfa Laval, Inc. having a five (5) year performance period. The proposed contract is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements."

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government, and information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government/USACE will not be responsible for paying for any of the costs incurred and associated with the development of any responses submitted to this posting.
