The NRC intends to award a sole source contract to Aspen Systems Inc for the upgrade to an existing High Performance Linux cluster system with the purpose of replacing the capacity of a few outdated components and upgrading the overall computing power. The purpose is to allow the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to model more complex fluid flows and heat transfer using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software in support of ongoing regulatory safety studies.
